Hey Ray, William and Nick,

I really need you guys to figure out who you'll be bringing to Monday's game then let me know.
This scenario requires a lot of prep so if we can get that info to me soon, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,

Paul

I have either level 2 wizard or level 5 barbarian or a pregen. Nick will either be level 1 or pregen.

I noticed this statement and just want to mention that if you have a PC in tier, you're not supposed to play a pregen. Unless you accidentally forgot to bring your PCs with you. I remember some lengthy discussions about this a long time ago.

Edit: Nevermind. Found an old thread.

Christian, are you saying I can’t play a new character and use a pregen for it???

Umm, no? I don't really understand your question. What I'm saying is, if you have a PC in tier (in your case a level 2 & a level 5, each suitable for both subtiers of a 1-5) you shouldn't play a pregen since you already have PCs in tier. You sure can play a pregen and apply it to a new 1st level character, though. FWIW, I just see playing a pregen instead of a PC of the same level against the spirit of the game.

Just my .02 but it looks like PFS is struggling to find players at CM and everything should be done to encourage participation rather than discourage it. This is a rule I’ve never heard of and to enforce it on a dead system (1e), seems counter productive at best.

I'm not trying to enforce anything which is why i put "shouldn't" in italics. Also, CM doesn't seem to be struggling with 5+ games a month that happen there, and, not to mention the home games like the PF2 ACG playtest (which I tried to organize officially on the boards) they organize on the same Sundays as Wizard's Chest which is struggling.

So, yeah, it's an old rule that was more suggested and updated through the guides.

Neutral comment incoming!

As far as official rules are concerned, you may play a pregen under the following conditions:
  • You must be applying it to a character whose level is less than the level of a pregen.
  • You cannot apply the credit from that chronicle until the character reaches the level the pregen was.
  • You must play a pregen if you don't have your chronicle sheets with you, following the same rules as above.
  • These decisions all must be made at the start of the game, you cannot change who the chronicle is being applied to at the end, even if it means the death of your PC due to the pregen dying or being unable to resolve a certain condition that results in the pregen being marked as dead.
Ex: Tier1-5 game, I have level 2 and 5 PCs that I don't wish to play. I can play a level 4 pregen and apply to the level 2, taking credit when that PC reaches level 4 or I can play a level 1 pregen and apply to a new level 1 PC taking credit upon character creation.

The above only applies to PFS Scenarios. Modules have a different set of rules that don't matter here.
