Hey, All...

Sorry about this but we will not be starting this Sunday (Jan 6th). A family issue came up that I must attend to that day. We will start the campaign on Sunday, January 20th.

I will try to be sure to message everyone with the changes.

Thanks, guys!

To give other players an idea of my alchemist, he’s an “angry alchemist” and has quite the fondness for the drink. Don’t shiver his timbers or he’ll be putting your ass overboard :)

And to clarify, alchemist is a loose term here. He’s a bit more angry than an alchemist should be. He might even have fits of rage quite often...

Acknowledging the new start date. I hope all is well.

Hey All,

I just want to mention about the possibility of going "slow track" for anyone wanting to do so, like myself. This module grants up to 4 chronicle sheets (3+ a bonus one if you play through all three chapters) with each one earning 3 XP. That's 4 levels gained very quickly! I don't want the PC I'm applying the chronicles to level up that fast. So, I'm going slow track: 1.5 XP, half gp, and half PP per chronicle. Only 2 levels instead of 4.

Just throwing it out for anyone to consider.

I would prefer to go standard track and get full XP, gold and prestige.

It's totally up to each player if they want to go slow or normal track on the chronicles. I was just letting everyone know it is an option if they don't want to level up so fast. Remember, you can make a custom PC, and probably should, for this campaign.

A BIG heads up for everyone...

After creating a few PCs using the Pathbuilder app I will not allow the digital versions in our game. You can use the app as a guide but must transfer and use your physical books to double check all the math and put them on a paper character sheet. When making basic characters with Pathbuilder I discovered several math and various other problems the app doesn't do right. Apparently, Hero Lab has issues as well.

I believe this is also a rule in PFS: You must have a physical copy of your character sheet.

So, please, bring a dtf (dead tree format) character sheet to the Plunder & Peril game.

Thanks!

Here is the huge thread from several years ago regarding digital sheets:

I can’t speak to the other app you referenced, but Hero Lab is far more accurate than someone fumbling around with a stack of papers. The very few cases where Hero Lab does not apply something correctly are very strange hardly ever seen corner cases. The ability to quickly toggle conditions on and off and apply buffs in the app are huge time savers at the table vs “oh wait, I forgot bless”....etc.

Better check with Russ about banning a digital character sheet. I know modules can be run with different rules than standard pfs, but the game is being run under the auspices of rmpfs. The guide to PFS explicitly allows digital character sheets....

“It is your responsibility to maintain accurate
records. You must bring either paper or digital copies
of your character sheet and all accompanying Chronicle
sheets of any character you wish to play to Roleplaying
Guild events. ”

Ok, cool. I'll accept digital sheets but not from Pathbuilder since it is not a reliable or official source. A paper copy is ideal (for me to look at) but just make sure all the math, feats, abilities are correct.

Thanks!

I agree with Pogie on the accuracy and ease of use of Hero Labs. I am using my PFS Magus (4th level) for this. He has ranks in Profession (Sailor) so should be able to fit in.

Doug,
It turns out that since we're doing campaign mode, you cant use the same PC you use for PFS. Basically for the same reasons I PMd you about. So, whip up a new magus or whatever piratey PC you want and email me the pdf.

Cheers!

Where do I find the iconic character sheets? I want to play a warpriest.

Doug, this is a pirate themed campaign. A heavily armored warpriest won't do well in this campaign. I replied to your PM with some suggestions.
