Ultimate Equipment Errata

All...

I was just looking through the Paizo forums, and with the latest version of Ultimate Equipment, there have been some SIGNIFICANT changes.

Here is the location of the errata where they detail the changes...  http://paizo.com/download/pathfinder/PZ ... 10-1.0.zip

Many people are not going to be happy with some of these changes (in point of fact, I will be sending an e-mail to one player in the Springs letting him/her know about it...)

To address this, John Compton has released the following statement allowing players to sell back some items at full cost if they decide that the changes are unacceptable to them.  The location of the announcement is here...  http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2to8u?Ultimate-Equipment#1

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to talk with your GM or a VO.

Game on!

I broke the same news at our All for Immortality part 1 table yesterday. About half the table had items on that list. Two guys had the Jingasa. My ranger had feather step slippers. I was not happy having to get rid of them, but, at least I was able to sell them back at full price which gave me enough money to add another enchantment to a weapon.

This "errata" stuff is very ridiculous. I bought an expensive book. Now I'm supposed to cross stuff out in it and rewrite stuff in it. WTF!?!

There's got to be some sort of law on this. I'm keeping my Jingasa, feather step slippers, etc...

Replace my book for free, then.

Unfortunately, Erratas do happen...  Mistakes are found that need to be corrected, and changes need to be made.

I only found out a couple of months ago about a class feature that changed the Core Rulebook that impacted my monk...  I'm highly confident that errata is several years old, but I never noticed it since I have a first printing of the CRB.

The only way that I can suggest would help mitigate some of the pain associated with erratas is that people buy the .PDF versions of books.  Any time the book is updated, you can simply download the updated version of the .PDF.

Even that is not foolproof, O.J.

For instance, they lowered the price of an Amulet of Mighty Fists to 4,000 gp several years ago on a blog post (2012, I think). There have been two versions of the Core Rule Book released since then, and neither version has the corrected price.

Another example: did you know that the Quinggong archetype monk ignores the usual rules for archetype replacement? You can Quinggong nearly any other archetype; you are only disallowed from replacing an archetype feature that already replaced something that Quinggong would ordinarily replace. So Weapon Adept, for instance, could use Quinggong to replace Slow Fall, High Jump, Wholeness of Body, Diamond Body, Abundant Step, Diamond Soul, Quivering Palm, Tongue of the Sun and Moon, and Empty Body, but not to replace Timeless Body or Perfect Self. This change has yet to be reflected in new printings of Ultimate Magic.

Errata in game systems is a fact of life. Magic players deal with it constantly (and often with just as much complaining). As players of a game it behooves us to be aware of how the game changes if we want to play in a public organized game. Do whatever you want in a home game. But if you play the publisher's game in their sanctioned environment, follow the rules they want you to follow.

I said it helps...  didn't say it was foolproof...  ;)

Couldn't have said it better myself!
